ok to make these fun tins! get some tins with lids that have a tab like a pop cans to open. I found these fruit tins but you can get bigger ones for soup ect. Get a can opener that cuts the outside of the tin and not one that cuts the top. you need to cut the bottom off and eat the insides :) and clean the tin.Next fill the tin with anything you want... Maybe a stuffed animal for a child's birthday. I filled mine with embellishments for a Christmas Stocking Stuffer Swap.
Next thing is to close it up. They say to use a hot glue gun but this was hard to use and if you squeezed the tin the bottom would fall off. If you can find mettle glue that's cool or I did use craft glue. The only thing about the Craft glue is it takes a day to dry but it looks nicer then the glue gun way.
All you need to do now is decorate your tin! I used my Stampin Up Wheel Bodacious and than added some textured ribbon to the bottom (to hide the opening) and added sparkly glue to it.
Now you have a cool tin that can still be opened the original way:)

OK - so I almost spit my Airborn-water(feelin a little sicky) on my 'puter!!! To be mentioned in the same breath as Michelle! Yikes! As far as tips - first of all, I have seen your gallery improve project after project....don't get caught up in trying to follow someone else's style - I could NEVER pull off a Twisted Chick card - it's just not me. Remember that sometimes less is more (unless you're MIchelle,,,,) Oh yeah - I'd rather see "clean" (well thought out and put together) than super fancy - trendy maybe not a lot of though anyday! I think I stink at giving this advice! Some "inspiration" I am ! hee hee!
I hate to give any advice on improvements because mine need them and I am so behind now. I like glitter. a bit or a lot-I think because my daughter hates it. I remember all the cool cards my gramma got in the 50's and 60's and the ones she lliked most were the pop up glitter ones. Stickles are great but I just found a pen that does clear glitter writing for accents-so I bought 4!
Wow What fun and sweet blog candy you are giving to your admirers. What improvements...I think you are very talented and you amaze me with all your stuff and always coming up with such creative ideas. To challenge yourself you could always try new products.
I am not sure you need improvement. I like your cards and try to read what you did to improve my cards. I often wonder how you get as good as you are
I'm not one to give advice as I am mainly CASE other peoples cards, yours included. As for my personal taste excessive ribbon on a project isn't my thing nor is the vintage look. I say keep doing what you like and what makes you feel good when it's finished. Some will like it, some won't; as long as you do is what matters.
What cute tins and such a fun idea:) I really love your work & you have made some beautiful cards. I did notice that my favorites are the ones that are more clean and simple like your Bella, the hula penguins, and the alligator stamps. You are obviously a crafter who has the ability to do any style & do it well!
Twisted Chick is one of my faves too. I think the best thing you can do is to keep trying and to try new things. Your own style will further develop.
Several years ago, Lea Everse, who is another amazing stamper, told me she uses 8 basic layouts (with variations on each) and she throws a LOT of stuff away. If it isn't going right she will toss it in the trash and start over or re-work that piece of the card. Hearing that someone whose artwork has been in ads and in Somerset Studio often trashed stuff made me feel much better.
I think the main thing is not to worry about your work being 'as good' as someone else's. I think back to the first swap cards I did about 4 years ago when I first became a SU demo. YUCK! But at the time it was the best I could do. I think we all mature and grow as stampers, and the more we share with each other, the more we develop our own style. I love the stuff you post! Keep up the great work!!

Why would you want to copy someone else or be like someone else. You are very talented and just need to focus on you style. Enjoy what you are doing and as long as you like it then you did a great job. Thanks for sharing.
You know what, you have great stuff, so the only thing I can possibly suggest is to ink more and take up some of that negative space. I love inking and it gives a good dimension and contrast to your cards. Great stuff and congrats on the 2500 hits! Thanks for the blog candy offer!
One thing I do that really adds a little something is just a hint of glitter. Too much is too much, just a hint works best.

Congratulations! Thanks for the generous candy. The advice I have for you is, if you like it, then it's great! We all have different tastes and styles. So, trust yourself. Sandra Lew-Moll
I love that idea.I made tins like this for easter. I am in the same swap as you(adisneyfreak) I am a little sad now that I see what you made I don't beleive we are in the same group. I think that as long as you like the card so will others. Thankfully we all have different styles which is why swaping is so addictive!
Thanks for sharing how you created your altered tins. They are just too cool.
Personally I'm not one to offer advice on how to be as good as someone else. I spent alot of time beating myself up for not being as good as my BF. Then I had to realize that I've been stamping 2yrs compared to her 10, she has more toys than I do, etc. We're all different and therefore our styles are different. But, I do find that since I have started doing challenges, my work has improved so much. I still don't have the toys and can't afford to buy them so I made do. (I don't have a CB, OR any die cut machine, just a few ink pads, few stamps, etc.)So I make due with what I have. I was getting so I was losing interest in stamping but that was because I was trying to compare my work to that of others. Since I stopped doing that, I am enjoying it much more.
Your work is great and I bet you will find that the more you try challenges & challenge yourself the more you'll be satisfied with your own style.
Well, it is hard for me to give advise when I have tried to improve mine and they end up looking awful or the same!!! It doesn't stop me from stamping, I just keep on going and think one day the way to make a perfect card will hit me. So, needless to say, I am not sure my advise would help you, But to me your cards and projects all look great. Thanks for the chance to win some goodies.
Ya know....it really is difficult to give advice unless one is looking at a specific card and you are asking for advice. Sometimes just a bit of embellishment improves a card by fillin a "need" or "space." I know how much planning, thought, consideration (for whom the card is being made) and time is spent in making even one card. I don't think advice like that can be given in general. The cards you post on your blog are beautiful!
I say your stuff is great! You'll improve the more you stamp. I'm a CASEr myslef. But I change everything up....colors and such. Looking back, I see steady improvement in my cards. And, I've been doing this for 13 years. Man, I should be better. :-)
Have fun is what I say!
Those tins are fabulous!! I've been coming here for ideas for cards, so I am in no position to give you advice on them. I honestly do not see anything that can be improved. I also visit the Twisted Chick blog and I do think that your cards are just as good. Thanks!

Everyone has thier own design/technique. For me I sit and sit and sit trying to come up with anything, some people can start a project and no exactly what they want. No one can give advise to someone who already knows they have a great talent. Keep up the good work.

Hi, I think you are well on your way to being one of the best bloggers out there. Your artwork is beautiful.
congratulations on almost 10k! :)
your cards are already so beautiful.. my advice is to stick to your style and have fun! :)
You're probably you're own worst critic because I think your cards are very good. The thing I have to focus on is less stamping and more layering. Or maybe a simple stamp on elegant paper. Either one or the either.
I really like your work, mostly because you aren't afraid to try anything. You use a variation of color & techniques. Some of your fold-outs appear to be very difficult & time consuming. You are your own worst critic because I can't find even one area to suggest improvement.
I think you are doing a great job and can't think of anything to tell you to "improve on". We are all so unique in our creations - keep up the good work!
I agree that you need to follow your own sense of style and not worry about the other ladies! I agree that some just seem to REALLY have it together...like Michelle! I think you have beautiful cards...stay true to you!
Thanks for the tutorial on the cans and the tip on the glue. I always wondered if that would hold it well. As far as improvements on your cards are you kidding?? You do beautiful work. I can't imagine any improving. Hope you have a great day.
I love your cards... I seem to always keep it simple, but you're fearless!!! You tackle cards that would be too intimidating for me to try!!! Keep 'em comin'! I love looking at your cards for ideas!
